Our RetroTek team was delighted to support our new Chile customer – Gauss Index, on site following their purchase of the RetroTek-D Mobile Retroreflectometer Unit. Gauss is a survey contractor that provides road maintenance surveys to the many private toll road operators around Santiago. One of our installation engineers provided onsite hands-on practical training to the nominated survey operator on installing, calibrating the system and performing test survey runs. Our RetroTek engineer also provided training on the use of the QuickView-Pro software for processing survey data, visualizing results and reporting outcomes.
The Gauss team used the opportunity to compare retroreflectivity measurements from the RetroTek system to their existing handheld retroreflectometers on selected markings and were pleased with the correlation. The team were particularly impressed by the system’s GPS performance in tunnels. The RetroTek system will improve safety for the team, removing their workers from the roadway and will make retroreflectivity surveys much more efficient for the team.
